If the yellow triangle is on Device Manager, you just have to update your drivers. Windows 8.1 and 10 have the same requirements. The laptop you see in this video and my main laptop today (ThinkPad T440s) were also Windows 8.1 laptops, but Windows 10 runs so much better on them. If it's slow, replace your HDD with a SATA SSD.

Clover is a boot loader that allows you to start Mac OS on non-Apple computers. But now it's outdated and it's been replaced by a different boot loader called OpenCore. You can learn about it (and how to use it to install Mac) on this site dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/

I tried Ubuntu 24.04 on this laptop (and also did a video about it). I put it in sleep mode probably a hundred times so far, and it has never crashed.

Why I am not using Windows anymore, after Windows 7. The stupidity of what used to be semi ok, went off the rocks after Windows 95 second edition.

@@daviddaniel1001 The video explains it: get the older “Nvidia web drivers” with OpenCore Legacy Patcher, which give you video acceleration but no Metal. I have no idea if there is a similar patch for the Kepler GPU.

I didn't. You have to burn the ISO file of Plop Boot Manager to a CD. If it was possible to use a USB drive in legacy mode on this Mac, you wouldn't need Plop at all.

Installing Mac OS on a non Apple computer is possible because they both have Intel processors. It's known as "hackintosh". Apple doesn't want you to do it, but it's not a big deal because it's quite difficult, and it never works as well as Windows or Linux or a real Mac. But it could be a fun challenge if you like messing with computers.

You have to do things in this order: install the Boot Camp drivers, don't reboot, replace MacHalDriver.sys, then reboot, then install the updated graphics drivers.

Would I have to redo the entire windows install from the beginning? I just uninstalled bootcamp, then I reinstalled bootcamp, did not reboot, replaced the driver MacHALDriver.sys with the newer version rebooted and attempted to install the graphics driver however I still am encountering the same issue.

No you don't have to reinstall Windows. But if you're following the steps correctly, unfortunately I don't know what's wrong.

If Big Sur works quite well on one 2009 Mac, then it should do the same on another one (as long as it has an SSD). Otherwise, High Sierra with dosdude1 patch is the best balance between not too old and not too slow: dosdude1.com/highsierra/

Firefox is still getting security updates on High Sierra until September 2024. But it's totally understandable if you want a newer OS.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not a big gamer. Everyone knows different games and the same model of computer can have different hardware (for example CPU and GPU). This video is obviously not a buyer's guide. To answer your other comment, both the 6000 and 6300 can stream video up to 1080p 60 fps perfectly fine, even with the integrated graphics. I'm not sure about 4K because I don't have a 4K monitor, but it may work if you have a capable enough GPU.

You should always back up your files, but they will not be deleted during the upgrade.

Absolutely! Like the version number says, Ubuntu 22.04 is from 2022. It's had plenty of updates these past two years so it's very stable. And it's supported until 2027 (five years after its release).

They're very similar. CrossOver is paid and doesn't have any important features compared to free Wine, so maybe Wine is the better option.

I don't know. As mentioned in the video, I haven't tried any video games on Linux. And even on Windows I've never played a game with anti-cheat (except Valve anti-cheat which works on any OS that can run Steam).

Probably not. OEM recovery software is purposely difficult to crack (if not impossible). In the description there's a link to download the wallpapers and OEM info.

The wallpapers are just image files, so they work on pretty much any OS. The logon background reg file works on Windows 7 only. The OEM info reg file works on Windows 7 or newer.

The description of his video says it doesn't work anymore. And even if it did, it's not worth it. Windows 7 is an older OS that has run its course. When I need something more secure, I use my newer computer.

As mentioned in the video, Dimmer is not a good solution because it doesn't actually lower the display's brightness. It just applies a filter to make the screen appear darker.

@@TheComputerGuy96 Obrigado! Vou ver se consigo testar. Como disse anteriormente, consegui habilitar o som com o driver cirrus. Para o touchpad, estou usando o trackpad++ que comprei em 2018 para usar com o Windows 8.1. Só falta resolver o problema do brilho!
